Edward FISHER
(1777 - 1819)

On August 28 1819 Edward FISHER, who had been convicted at the previous Norfolk Assizes of stabbing William HARRISON, was hanged on the Castle Hill, Norwich. “After receiving the sacrament he long held the cup and bread with the wildest expression of agony in his eyes and features”.

He left a wife and seven children to lament the unhappy end of a husband and father. It was recorded ‘he was of a reserved, sullen, and gloomy temperament in his religious profession as a Methodist, and to a certain degree of unsound mind’. .....

Edward FISHER, son of John FISHER (c. 1746-c. 1813) and Pleasance BAMBRIDGE (c. 1743-1827), was born in 1777 in Bressingham, Norfolk. He was baptised on 21 July 1782 in Bressingham - aged 5 years, son of John and Pleasance, baptised with other siblings.
He married Elizabeth MOSS on 10 August 1802 in Halesworth, Suffolk.
On 8 July 1819. Edward stabbed William HARRISON in the abdomen.
